What do you think is the worst sequel of any movie/game?

By worst I meen completely off from where the previous left off.

My choices are.

Movie-Resident Evil Apocalypse, first couple of movies were not great but the third was................what? Hellboy and the golden army was a close second.

Game-Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty, sorry but I was rolling on the ground in a fetal postion in a pool of my own tears at all the plot twists about halfway through.

I have a friend (actually a group of them) who refuse to acknowledge that a third Matrix movie was made.  They simply will not allow that to exist in their world.

And I would tend to agree, except for the fact that I saw it, and therefore have more difficulty pretending it does not exist.

Don't have an opinion on games, as I'm not that hardcore of a gamer.

Not quite sure if that qualifies, given your description, but I believe it's close enough.

Movies: Highlander 3 and Blade 3...they were were blasphemous after the originals.

Game: Empire Earth 3 ..... Apparantly they thought that people globally lost 1/2 their I.Q. points since 1 and 2

This being posted from the GalCiv2 forum, it wouldn't be right if there wasn't a mention of Master of Orion 3 being a total letdown to the previous games .

For movies, I have to say pretty much any sequel. There are very, very few that are worth looking at. A few examples of bad sequels off the top of my head:

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Jaws 2

As mentioned above: Star Wars Episode One (I'll also toss in Episodes Two and Three and even Episode Six)

Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End (Dead Man's Chest was pretty pointless as well)

Any of The Exorcist sequels

I generally hate sequels.

Well, of course it's all subjective, but I found the second Indiana Jones movie was a big let down. And as far as the Star Wars movies: I thought the first  (Episode 4) was fantastic. Next was pretty good. After that, the just kept getting worse. Those cute and fuzzy Ewoks just made me want to hurl something at the screen. And could they have found a worse actor than Hayden Christensen? Good gods, a cardboard cutout has a better acting skills and a wider emotional range.

Well yeah close enough. I was looking for sequels that had almost nothing in common with thier orignal.

Metal Gear 1, You get to follow around a smooth talking, neck snapping, asskicker and help him stop a madman hellbent on making everyone have a bad day. And at the end you get to hear Revolver Ocelot have a conversation with his "employer" and hear "yes Mr. President" and you think awsome.

#2 you get to follow around a whiny, immature kid who quite possibly requires to use a helmet to use the bathroom on a story powered by the biggest acid trip ever. All I could think was "what the hell?"

Asheron's Call 2

MOO3

Take your pick.

Every "The Crow" movie made after the first was a slap in the face to the memory of Brandon Lee, and those responsible should have their kidneys pounded by the Samsonite gorilla.

I loved all the Indy movies except 4... It was the SW Episode 1-3 equivalent for the Indy franchise: all flair and effect with no subtlety, no character, and no substance. It broke my heart to watch it.

Oh, and G.W. Bush's second term... that sucked. I heard they're making a spin-off series, too.

I loved Jar'Jar! I even created him in Spore

Star Wars all were good except the new ones. But when compared to old ones for video/audio quality the get a big +.
On the first episode I always use the scene Landing on Naboo to test speakers fav!

I have to agree for MOO3 too I was so anxious to play it and so much dissapointed. I still wait for a new MOO2.

Odd numbered Star Trek Movies haven't been mentioned yet, and frankly Star Trek V out-smells anything mentioned yet, including the Star Wars movies *and* the Highlander that shall not be named. Even Episode III (In which we find out the greatest bad guy in the history of fictional bad guys is basically a whiny 'lil shit.)  failed to generate the amount of pain caused by Shatner attempting to direct.

I'm fine with him as an actor (Sure he was over the top - but dammit, Jim Kirk was over the top.  I don't care what anyone says, in the time Picard took to say "Lets find common ground", James T. Kirk could shoot them, blow up their god, convince the evil AI to commit suicide, talk the downtrodden slave class into open rebellion, sleep with the gorgeous alien babe . . . *AND* walk away from the Prime Directive Court Martial review board smelling like a rose. Spock wasn't a loyal vulcan willing to lay down his life to save his captain and friends - he was just too damn curious about what was going to happen next to leave.),  but dear lord, the man can't direct or write worth a damn . . .

That's because his talents lie with singing.

Yeah, I went there.
